 Japan notes: Oktoberfest!
Something which still surprises me is the way that Japanese people will reserve seats when out in busy places. They will find empty seats and immediately pop-down all of their bags and possessions, often including mobile phones, laptop computers and purses, and then abandon them whilst they go and queue up for their drinks. The idea that anybody would steal these things is near unthinkable in Japan.
