The faux Irish pub revolution A few decades back, St. Patrick's Day was a relatively quiet day in Ireland. It was a religious holiday; pubs were closed, and no one dyed anything green.

Milwaukee's own patron FAKE fake fake irish bar is "Mo's Irish Pub" located on Wisconsin street, right in the heart of downtown.
On my way into work today, I couldn't help but notice the steady streams of middle-aged whitefolk heading in to Mo's for their green beer and irish cheer.
(the college students hit up water street, what with Flannagan's and Murphy's Irish pub et. al)

i've not great objection to bric-a-brac, fiddles or any other faux-oirish bar/pub trappings.
What i do object to is the impossibility of finding a decent pint in an irish theme pub. I live in a city with a host of top notch local brewers but the only passable drink in any of these irish bars is guinness, an average stout. great :(
