 F************KKKK YOOOOOOOUUUUUUUU!
Al Goldstein, former pornographer, grapples with ruin, sickness, old age and loneliness the only way he knows how - with middle finger extended. I think his piece on Linda Lovelace from September 10, 2008 is as moving as anything Roger Ebert has been writing lately, if decidedly different.

Strange Political Cartoon via Al Jazeera English
I love the use of a jazzy version of "Santa Claus Is Coming To Town" as a soundtrack - coupled with Petraeus reaching for his pistol at the very end. Is he going to shoot himself? Condi? Cheney? Bush?

Talk about suspense.

 Appalachian is HOT! HOT! HOT!
This is a 2004 promo for Appalachian State University. To me, however, this is more than just a promo tape. The video linked to here is a magical, musical train ride through a little college town we North Carolinians know as Boone, a place where, even when the weather is cold, Appalachian State is HOT! HOT! HOT!

Really, our strategy is 'we'll turn our enemies gay.'??

 A Little Perspective
Not to take anything away from anyone's confusion/grief/mou
rning, but this story's not even rating front-page news at this point. Jesus said, "let the dead bury their dead." At this point, that may be all that's left pretty soon. Maybe this is what he was talking about all along. Personally, I nominate Paul Wolfowitz to bury the dead. Make him work a little for that cushy paycheck.

Greatest Establishment Shot Ever (at least for C-SPAN)
This footage is just weird. What is Cheney doing? Why is he standing there? Is anyone but the cameraman even aware of his presence? Is he exerting his famed mind-control powers from afar - well, not that afar, just across the yard. All in all, one of the weirdest moments from a very weird administration.

I actually saw this on TV yesterday and could barely believe it. The issue at hand is meaningless - a quote in a book - but the unequivocal ability to refuse facts at face value is astonishing to watch. Tom Delay must be a psychiatrist's wet dream.

 Wee Willie and Little Cash
Thanks to Karen Mann for pointing this out to me: little people tribute to Willie Nelson and Johnny Cash.

She also claims Wee Willie used to be in a little person's KISS tribute band. Fair enough. Once again, Karen carries this "knowing a lot about music" thing one step too far.

Yoink! - Best Midterm Election Ever
Pennsylvania Republican (what are the odds?) Congressman Tim Murphy does the obvious thing when faced with evidence of wrongdoing; he simply takes the documents away from the nosy reporter.

Yoink!

I'm half-surprised he doesn't try to "make a run for it." Strange that a U.S. Congressman had never heard of a photocopier.
