i just turned in my info to get a passport! of course, it was not without calamity.
i got my photo done at a camera shop. when i got to the passport office, the photo wasn't good enough so i had to have it retaken. you bet your sweet ass i went back to the camera shop and got my monies back.
there was an asian family in front of me. they were renewing and changing names on passports. no one had any of the documents they were supposed to have. it was like an episode of seinfeld. do people really not research stuff on the internet before embarking on these types of excursions? i pratically memorize the FAQ section of sites just so i'm PREPARED for ANYTHING. yes, i was a girl scout for many years.
also, i only have one copy of my birth certificate. the super original. i had to turn that in and it supposedly gets sent back to me with the passport. what are the odds of that happening? i hear my mother's voice in my head saying "your ORIGINAL birth certificate?! you gave it away?!"
oy.
at least in 4 - 6 weeks i can jet off to london at a moment's notice.
on a side note, when i got the bad photos done, they give them to you in this little fake paper passport thingie. it's cool. i kept walking around the house saying "hello. may i enter your country? here is my passport." hee.
