elanamatic: All Your Ikea Belong To Us
Our kitchen reno is about 60% done and we are already so excited about the new look and feel of our burgeoning space. With the wall gone, all the light pours in when you open the front door and the new white high gloss Ikea cabinets are looking very clean and streamlined. Next steps are getting in the granite counters (next Wednesday, unfortunately, I will be in San Fran on business.. I cannot wait to see the end results!) and finalizing the electrical, and adding in the backsplash.
All in all it's been a manageable experience, despite the dust and the mess, and the tireless takeout meals. The one thing that has started to get to us (though we were warned) is the gazillion trips to Ikea. We are there at least once a week. We have the return product and special pickup lines down to a routine. We know all the shortcuts to the exit. We are best friends with the kitchen planning staff. We have the displays memorized and have napped in at least two of them. We've breakfasted there. I even tried the vegetarian sandwich for lunch one day (not recommended.) We've debated whether our child will be into the steamed hot dogs (EW!) or the frozen yogurt. At this point, I don't even want to look at another cheapie fro-yo cone.
And we still have to go back there at least two more times.
