Been carrying on like a rock star lately. Which is good. Did some things that were wicked good times. Some things that were kind of stupid. But no matter. All in the name of fun.
And now I'm very, very tired. That'll show.
Cheers to that with a not-so-random ten.
This is really wussy.
That's When I Reach for My Revolver - Mission of Burma 8.5/10 The old standby. The classic. The Burma. I'm tired. I'm spent. Nothin' gets me back up as quickly as reaching for my revolver.
How You've Grown - 10,000 Maniacs 6/10 I don't really like 10,000 Maniacs. But about a month ago I discovered a mix CD someone had made me for my birthday a few years ago. I never listened to it 'til then. I thought, "Hmm... this is a nice song to fall asleep to."
Livin' Life - The Eels 9/10 Daniel Johnston is back on his meds, and everything's all right. My favorite cover on a disc full of Daniel Johnston covers. It holds me like a mother would, and doesn't make me do my homework
Here - Pavement 8/10 Though Slanted & Enchanted was released in 1992, this song will always be 1994 to me. She left me for her boyfriend on Thanksgiving to this song. I guess we spent our last quarters randomly.
Everyone Chooses Sides - The Wrens 8/10 Ain't that the truth. Actually, I don't believe that. I'm a newfound fan of decisiveness, though you'd never know it. And this is the way I'd wanna open my rock show.
Butterfly - Weezer 9/10 Yesterday I went outside with my momma's mason jar. Caught a lovely butterfly. When I woke up today, I looked in on my fairy pet. She had withered all away. No more sighing in her breast I'm sorry for what I did.
Tomorrow Wendy - Concrete Blonde 7/10 Another song from my young(er) days. Turned me on to dark girls. Sounds cheesy now, but "I told the priest 'don't count on any second comin'/God got his ass kicked the first time he came down here slummin' " sounded pretty bad ass to me at the time. And kind of hot. It gets a 7 for that.
No Myth - Michael Penn. 7/10 Yup. I said it. Loved this song when I was 13. Made me totally think I had a shot with Dianna. Probably because I owned a pair of black jeans The song was wrong, but I forgive it. Viva wrong.
Masterfade - Andrew Bird 9/10 Kewpie Dolls. I was turned onto Andrew Bird by a girl who looks exactly like a Kewpie Doll. My second-favorite song at he the moment, though it's something I'd probably never make myself. I have a really great live version of this.
Made For TV Movie - Clem Snide 9.5/10 Ricky and Lucy. Slept in separate beds, but somehow they had a son. It's on. I'm gonna go watch it.
Final Score: Who cares? I picked 'em. I like 'em. And I'm going to bed.
