It was the birthday of lowered expectations; the GW Bush of birthdays. First, I didn't talk about it a whole lot going in. It seemed pointless, since I actively see about one person within an hour's drive of where I live.
That said, I probably had the best birthday I can remember since I was a kid. Thank god for the internet and happyrobot. You guys really came through and I was floored by all the wellwishing that was pointed in my direction. I got birthday greetings from four different countries and 11 different states (including Alaska and Hawaii). It was great, especially since I was secretly harboring a "Sixteen Candles" nightmare fear the entire evening previous. I want to give special thanks to MJ for the fabulous story and to Karla for the delicious cake (lemon pound cake, no icing, mmmm). All of you guys did such a great job, for me and for Pony. It felt like a continent-wide office party all day.
See. Boring entry. My creativity is dulled by the tremendous satisfaction I am feeling. I'll try to work up some misery or resentment later on. For now, I suppose I'll wallow in the fact that I feel loved. Thanks. Honest.
