The interview:
1: Why do you want to work in the snail lab?
2: I have always loved snails. When I was a little girl my mother wouldn't let me have any pets. I would go out in the neighborhood and collect snails and bring them home, begging her to let me have them as pets. She let me keep them outside, and I would feed them lettuce. My friend and I would compete over who could get the most snails.
1: Cool. Can you count to ten?
2: yes.
1: over and over?
2: yes.
1: repetitively? Sometimes for hours?
2: yes.
1: it can be boring.
2: that's ok.
1: because that's what this job is.
2: ok.
1: and following strict procedure.
2: ok.
1: do you like hiking?
2: yes. [note: she actually doesn't]
1: do you have anything else you want to say?
2: no, not really.
1: I expect you to be here on time when you tell me you will be here.
2: ok.
1: ok. I'll call you.

[she was hired and worked in the lab for a year]
