After I moved out of my mother's house at 17, I pretty much stopped watching television. I hadn't really watched it that much to begin with; once Twin Peaks was cancelled I lost all faith in the major network medium and gradually shifted my viewing preferences over into endless prerecorded reels of MTV's 120 Minutes and Liquid Television.

Ever since my divoooooorce from the TV, however, I've felt kind of like a pop culture pariah. I never saw Seinfeld or Friends or The Sopranos or The West Wing or any of that stuff. And now, when everyone in my office hovers around the receptionist's desk talking about what happened on Lost the night before, I just smile and jiggle the ice cubes in my water glass.

There is one show, however, that I've stuck to through thick and thin. It doesn't matter if I'm at my mom's house or my dad's house or a hotel or a motel, if I'm near a television around 11 AM on a weekday, I will be watching The Price Is Right. I love it. I love how the show barely changes, how the sets stay the same, how the models never seem to age.

I love the orange and turquoise colors so reminiscent of my grandmother's unrenovated bathroom. I love Plinko and that big ol' wheel (I've only ever seen somebody get a perfect dollar once) and the Showcase Showdown. I love the phrase "Actual retail price." And most of all, I love Bob Barker and the way he encourages all of us to spay and neuter our pets at the end of the show.

And it is with feeling of grandiose and all-encompassing love that I wish to share this video with you:
