09.28.04 I've always loved tooling around town on my bike. Now that I work downtown, I can ride my little cruiser to work. Thing is I am totally paranoid about having my bike stolen. As I am sure Pony has mentioned in the past -- Toronto is the bike theft capital of the world.
This morning, I read this article while I ate my breakfast. I even scrambled over to the Toronto Police website afterwards and downloaded a bike registration form. Problem is I don't think my bike has a serial number on it. Or if it does, I am too clueless to locate it.
We moved offices over the weekend and our new space is a lot smaller then our old one. Our previous pad was huge, so I hiked my bike up the stairs and kept it in the office. That bike is crazy heavy though. There is not as much room here so I left my bike outside today, but I think I will go and buy one of those fancy pants chain locks after work. Also, as I rode in this morning my bell went flying off into a busy intersection so I guess I need to purchase a new one.
Somehow riding my bike is feeling more $$ then the upkeep on my car. Meanwhile, I never sweat my car being stolen.
(Note: I had my Oversized Iron Giant doll sitting in my basket! Had to bring him into the office. He is XXL. The size of a toddler, larger then some dogs. I got some excellent stares!)
