2001

I was in SUCH a mood earlier this morning, but it's dissipated a bit, so I won't be able to spew as much as I could have. Most of my attitude was generated by my futile quest to get advised today.

On the way there, I passed two women with the head-covering thing going on, and this saddened me. What sort of THOUGHTFUL person would think that their "god" would be one that thinks that you have to modify your body to please it? I would never believe in a god that says that I provoke men with the showing of my glossy, lustrous, evil hair, BUT that men in my family can protect me from harm and therefore can see my hair. I would never believe in a god that is petty and takes names: "Rasheena wasn't wearing her headress today at UNCW. She must not love me. I suppose she's going to get ten points off her 'getting into heaven' quest".

Don't you naturally assume that your god made you? Why would you think that you were made imperfectly? I would much prefer it if people would say that their only reason for conforming to their religious garb would be to advertise for that religion "Vereela is soooo nice and kind and amazing. That scarf means she must be a Muslim. I think I'll become a Muslim." It's none of my business, but hypocrisy and "doing things because you're told from birth that's what you do" are one of my biggest irritants: "Pareen, it is sacrilegious to question your teachings. Put that m.f. headdress on and get your ass out the door."
