on the topic of holiday cards: craig's family is jewish. not jewish in the menorah way but more like the put up a christmas tree but don't talk about jesus way. my family is catholic in the way that we went to church growing up but say "jesus christ" when we stub our toes. so since getting married i've tried to be pc around the holidays and send out "holiday" rather than straight "christmas" cards to craig's family. but i've screwed up this year by getting "old fashioned santa" and "madonna and child" stamps. christ, i have to send craig's granny, shoshanna, a madonna and child stamped card! why don't i just send her a freakin' nativity scene?!
one great thing about craig's granny is that she finds these dual religion cards. they always have santa and a rabbi on them or something. for easter we get the easter bunny and a rabbi. it's hysterical. this year i found her one that has an elf sitting in a chair next to a menorah and on the inside it says "what? an elf that works for santa can't have a private life?" cracked me up. i think she'll forgive me for the stamp.
