we went to nashville this weekend and loved it. what a super fun town. friday night, after we flew in, we went to robert's western world and listened to rockabilly. they had cowboy boots on sale there. and after a few drinks it was hard to tear myself away from a rockin' red pair. the guy sitting at the bar next to me kept making cheesy jokes to the bartender. jokes such as "awww - i just spilled my drink.....down my throat!!!" har har har.
the next night we went to the bluebird cafe to listen to jonnell mosser. she was a nice mix of folky-western a la mary chapin-carpenter. it was a small venue with less than 100 people. everyone except me, william and julie knew her. she would start off each song with an inside joke like "this next song was written in my nashville kitchen....and let's just say i never made cupcakes again!" and the crowd would erupt into laughter - everyone except me, william and julie. we just ordered another drink.
sunday was the best - we went horseback riding! yee-haw. as soon as i get my pics done i will post one. it was a gorgeous day and the horses rocked. we walked and cantored. the horses spent most of the time eating and practicing their bodily functions (i.e., pooping, peeing and flatulating).
it was a red letter labor day weekend!
