i love music. i will listen to just about anything. i enjoy listening to live music and if someone sends me a cd with stuff i've never heard of, i will always give it a chance.
yes, my favorites are a little mainstream, i admit. i love the wallflowers, cowboy junkies, fleetwood mac, mary chapin carpenter and paul simon. i have cds by barry manilow, cat stevens, oasis and the lemonheads. i just started listening to sheryl crow and really like her. i'm obsessed with movie soundtracks.
so i read the onion's "best music of 2002" and i felt like i've been off the planet the whole year - am i that much of a music ass? i don't understand how they choose the "best"...intermingled with bands i've never heard of - hot hot heat, devin the dude and sigur ros - they choose two artists who's albums i couldn't even imagine owning: kylie minogue and me'shell ndegeOcello.
am i missing the point here? should it be titled "the best music of 2002 you're (you meaning "lisa") not listening to"? or am i really that much of a music virgin?
if you can explain, please send me an email. if you'd like to submit your list of "best albums of 2002 that the onion didn't mention" please do that too - i'll post some in a future entry.
