Snow It's snowing in Brooklyn. Wooo. We have had almost no snow this year (or have we had NO snow... I don't recall). But the ground is too warm, so it's just big white raindrops in reality
Smartie Coffee This is what the fine print on my coffee cup from the local bakery says: "Of course the coffee's HOT! So don't be stupid!" Clever coffee folks. I am on a low caffeine diet now, so my morning coffee is now hazelnut with half decaf and half-and-half. I want to get to the point where I can say that real quick... "Half and half with half and half" "Half half half half half"
I just wrote "half" so much that it now looks weird. Crazy how that happens.
Mean Girls Did you read the NYT last weekend? Well, for some reason, it was one of the best ever. I don't know why. I just read the whole thing, even sections I don't read normally. The magazine had an amazing story about 'Mean Girls'. It was all about how mean teen girls can be to each other. Thanks to Eric in Boston for bringing this article up. I think you should all read it now. Stop what you are doing. Click this link.
(then you can read the Stephin Merritt article, but read the mean girl one first) (As I wrote that, 'Fido your leash is too long' came on the stereo. Spooky.)
The funny thing is that reading this article about this horrid teen behavior is that I still see the same stuff being done by adults. That should be next week's article... about adults who skipped being a teen or what not.
On the theme of teens (god I hate teens), what was it about being 13 years old, and being a boy, and getting into fights? I guess it was just a growing up thing. And if you know me now, you can imagine that at 13 I was not a force to be reckoned with - yet I picked a few fights at that age.
Here is my list, I think:
guy named Rob. He actually picked the fight with me. We didn't really get a chance to fight because his mom came out and broke it up. "Go home little boy!", she yelled to me. The next day he reported back that I lost the fight. Auggh! We later kind of became friends after we both discovered that we liked to drink beer
guy named Robby. I have no idea what happened to this kid, but I think I lost the fight. Totally could be cast in a movie as the creepy neighborhood kid who killed cats or something. His father was this big testosterone jackass, and they had big dogs and big trucks. I shoulda never even considered fighting him
guy named Paul. This was totally my fault... I picked the fight. And he punched the shit out of me. In the face. I don't know who won, or what happened afterwards. We were at school, and I think a teacher broke it up, but I don't recall ever getting in trouble for it. This was the first time I had been properly hit in the face. I recall thinking, "dude, that hurts"
my little brother. We fought from about 1975 to about 1988. Those last years were rough, as we both got bigger and more clever. I once almost cracked his head open with a flower pot. Glad my aim was off.
I think that is all, although I think there was a kid at a private school I went to that I got in a fight with. I think. Memory gone. Can't remember nothing.
Baby Brother My baby brother is getting his ass married to a proper woman. Kookily-Koo! Congrats Lil' Bro!
Avantgo We have just learned that AvantGo has changed their policy on "custom channels", which means that the palm version of happyrobot may (or may not) be 'turned off' due to AvantGo's new rules.
Now granted, we were all using this wonderful program and service for free, and it's their right to charge us to use it, but I think their prices are a bit ridiculous in regards to happyrobot. They want to charge us $1000 per year to serve our mobile version to your palms. Um, no. So, the mobile version will remain live, and you can still get through other means, but most likely not via your handy AvantGo. And that sucks. We will keep you updated if another service becomes available that offers the same features.
Olympics Did you watch the Olympics? It doesn't seem that anyone did. Or is it just me? Probably just me. Who won?
Last Thursday I left the house on many occasions Last Thursday. Ain't that great?
