Bill Shakespeare We went and saw Twelfth Night at Shakespeare in the park - thanks to Jeff y Claire. It was a very entertaining show, but I found the production and set fascinating as well. The weather was perfect, too. My only regret was not bringing the flask I got from Mrs. Robot and trying it out.
Frenchie There was a Bastille Day street festival here on Smith Street. French people, French music, French games involving throwing balls, French food, French Dressing - the works. It looked like it would have been fun except for the making of every restaurant in our neighborhood too crowded.
Yahoo's new look Did you notice Yahoo's new look? I just did. Maybe I am late noticing. The only reason I could tell the difference is from my regular checking of their 'Most Popular Photos' section. I love that. It's always such a great mix of subjects - heartwarming, boobies, ulta-violent...
Bikes in NYC Biking around NYC is way fun. You see so much more stuff than you normally do. It's Fun. That's all.
Crankster Lord. Feeling cranky. We watched Frontline the other night, and it was all about poison gas and chemical warfare and Iraq - it left me feeling devastated and depressed in regards to the future of the world. So many crazy people. So many people hating the USA for legitimate reasons and so many hating the USA for no reason other than needing a scapegoat. Whenever I watch anything dealing with the Middle East I am always amazed how all the sides involved claim they to be 'God's people'. I mean, don't ALL religions consider themselves 'God's people'? Is there some religion out there where they are like, "well, really the Christians are the chosen people of God. We aren't really God's favorite people - but we are trying." Like they have a chart where they track how much more they have to do to become God's people... "I tell ya, as soon as we nip that covet thy neighbor problem, God will like us the best".
Lutherans not warm and fuzzy anymore Being a dumb east coast kid raised on a heavy dose of NPR, I naturally thought Lutherans were cute and homey, like that Garrison Keillor man. There is a story in the news about a pastor in the Lutheran church who got in trouble with the church for going to an all-faith service after 9/11. Apparently Lutherans have no respect for other religions...
"Instead of keeping God's name sacred and separate from every other name, it was made common as it was dragged to the level of Allah," Baseley wrote in his complaint against the Rev. David Benke, president of the church's east-coast Atlantic District.
"Joining in prayer with pagan clerics in Yankee Stadium was an offense both to God and to all Christians," the ruling by the St. Louis-based denomination said.
Nice. Ok, well, I need to go and restock my bunker.
But you know, it's not just Lutherans. It's everybody. Everybody hates everybody.
Speaking of Garrison Do you there is a forum on the Minnesota Public Radio website where people nitpick over Prarie Home Companion episodes? Good lord.
