Lisa Says: yum....errr, yuck!
i am reading up on the living/raw food diet. only for fun, i am not thinking of converting or anything. in case you don't know about this lifestyle, it means not heating your food over 116 degrees - or really, not heating food at all. of course, it's all meat and dairy-free. i believe there's a "hot" (no pun intended) new restaurant in california that's all raw foods. they don't even have an oven in the kitchen! of course, people are killing themselves to get a reservation.

here's a sample recipe i found online for "mock meat loaf":

1 beet, grated
1-2 sweet potatoes, grated
1-2 white potatoes, grated
1 turnip, grated
1 onion, cut-up
3 celery stalks, with leaves
1 pound raw peanuts

Put each item in a food processor indivdually. When each item is processed, place in a large bowl. Mix together and refrigerate overnight. Next day, shape into a loaf.

eeek. i don't think i could be a raw foodist. but there are subcategories as well:

fruitarian - people who consume mostly fruits
sproutarian - people who consume mostly sprouts
juicearian - people who consume mostly fresh juice

i'm not making this up! for real. these were found in the FAQs section of Living Foods.

i'm a mexicarian - all my food has to have cheese and chilis and some sort of red mole sauce all over it. with a side of chips and salsa. and a giant vodka margarita.
