I have been really into quick lit fixes lately. I read shopgirl by steve martin (which was quite good, btw and I hear he is making it into a movie) and Harry Potter. I got Adam the Potter for Chanukkah last year in the hopes that we would read it to each other in the bathtub, but that was unrealistic, and now I have a really dinky little tub.
Who didn't want to "be magic" when they were a kid? O.K., who didn't actually think they were magic? I used to think that I had telekenetic powers like Tony and Tia from Escape to Witch Mountain.
Now they put you on mood stabilizers if you believe in that stuff. As an adult, we just think we have the power to suss people out in a second. Which isn't magic, really, but an assumption.
