2002:January:21
1.21.2002

I watched the Golden Globes last night, and I don't know why. I could not stop watching. I think I am addicted to the subtext. Makes me squirm and talk to the T.V.

Seeing all these people I have only seen edited down to slick representations of people with sparkly smiles, suddenly stumble with nerves is too compelling to look away from.

Waiting for the camera to catch people sneering, boozing, or giving each other the evil eye. It was so interesting to watch everyone suss out Kate Winslet as she walked across the stage in her gorgeous, healthy body weight. The eyeballed her with all the scared fascination of suburban parent meeting their kid's punk friend.
