2001

Strangely (because I was in such a horrible mood last night), I had an excellent dream this morning. It was in the near future. I was in a huge stadium where Tori Amos and U2 were playing live in separate amphitheaters. I was listening to Tori mostly, but then as I was walking along the river (which looked a bit like a chicago version of the Sound of Music river) to take a break from the concert, I heard "Surrender". I ran up to the U2 amphitheater. Not content with the 40th row, I took the extra time to go to the front section thus I got to the outer door just in time to hear Bono say "thank you good night". People filed out. Me and a couple of hard-core young-20's people stayed for the inevitable encore. I started the shout by yelling "encore" "bravo" "encore s'il vous plait!". My shouts were only weakly echoed by the crowd, and I feared my renewed love of U2 would end, and I'd be NOT treated to seeing them live. I was pretty regretful and thought perhaps I should have done half U2 and half Tori Amos. Finally an encore came, but it was some hippie 40ish woman dressed in tribal garb. She was playing a flute. Bored, I tried to get into the back stage party. I followed a cool girl who gave the pass phrase "all that you want". I had snuck in. There was a grassy natural amphitheater where a bunch of people were watching Bono, the Edge, Larry, and Adam. I had caught a glimpse of Bono in the arena, and he looked just as hot as his Joshua Tree days. He must have taken off his hairpiece because this Bono was bald on top and had massive amounts of bushy gray hair on the sides and a huge beard. It could have been a joke. He seemed very jaded. The doorkeeper girl that I had scammed past came and sat next to me. She said that she knew I wasn't on the list but that she let me in because she knew I wasn't like those idiot 15 year olds. She could just tell. I told her I was 30 and smiled like a smug Mona Lisa. Then my alarm went off.
