Smackdown!

Yay for the internetterwebber!

So the Cao Dai temple was amazing, so beautiful and peaceful- we saw a Cao Dai ceremony- Cao Dai is its own religion- it had three spritual leader, one of which is Victor Hugo as well as a Chinese and Vietnamese leader. Go figger. I did my atoning there since I missed the high holidays.

Then on to the Cu Chi Tunnels (yes, my new nickname) AKA The Vietnam War Themepark!! you can shoot the same AK 47s used to shoot American soldiers! climb on abadoned tanks! see the bamboo stick traps used to kill americans! crawl through the tunnels used by the vietcong to infiltrate the south (all reconstructed a little bigger by the govt to accomodate big tourists) still it was much easier for me than my big tall man of a boyfriend. all with our group of lonely-planet toting american tourists and Minh, our guide who was sent to a relocation camp after the war.

Quote from Minh during our two hour traffic jam in the city, "there are so many people in Ho Chi Minh, everywhere you go there are people, people everywhere, on my day off I take my motorbike to get away and there are still people, people everywhere."

Also- "they say Vietnam won the american war, but really everybody lose in war."

today on to the mekong Delta!
