poop beetle: # 11.2003 For my birthday yesterday I got this email from my brother Matthew:
"Hola Anne ˇFeliz cumpliaños! I hope your birthday has been a good day and not a bad day. I've been doing lots of fun and exciting things. What all has mom told you? Right now I'm in the wonderful town of Baños with a beautiful and intelligent Swiss girl named Melissa. Tomorrow we're going to either climb a volcano or bike to some waterfalls. . . ."
From my mother I got a home made chocolate raspberry truffle cake, and a weed whacker w. 50 ft cord, and a table lamp. Earlier this week she came over to my house while I was at school and cleaned my kitchen and washed four loads of laundry. That last gift was very hard to accept. It probably helped, that I didn't have a choice. Once I wrestled down my embarrassment, and the urge to exclaim "Oh, God! You shouldn't have!"- and instead just said "thank you.- This is wonderful, thank you so much"- I found I was able discard shame and self-condemnation and just enjoy it- clean kitchen, lot's of neatly folded laundry. I'll have to add that to my Amazon wish list.
From my kids I got Spiderman web goop sprayed on the ceiling. It actually adds some charm and character to the place. I got lots of sticky hugs and kisses. I've gotten to watch them wear their Spiderman costumes for three days now- that has been a gift. From my nutty, but friendly estranged husband, I got an afternoon free. I got in my car and drove and got out and wandered in the sun.
From the universe I got an exceptionally beautiful day- just ridiculously beautiful. Orange leaves, sunny day and a leg up on these heebie jeebies, icky yucks that have been snarking around. Circling- not there, but letting me know they could be. I woke up this morning and felt like they'd been gated- they're not wandering the grounds, they're caged up- but comfortable, they've got food and water and video tapes and board games, no need for them to test the walls- or rush the keeper.
So. Yay. Yay. Yay. Everything's good and I've So Outlived Jesus!
