Sci-Fi I really have issues with Sci-fi and the whole lifestyle associated with it. As much as I like the star wars thing, and the fact that I already have tickets for Attack of Some Clones, reading the stuff on fan sites and looking at the pics of idiots dressed up in SW costumes in front of the theatre makes me cringe. My least favorite trend is the girls who dress up as that damn Queen/Natalie Portman character - who the f*ck thinks that is a good idea? I guess being that Lucas can't be bothered to have more than one or two female characters in his movies makes it tough to be a girl fan ("No, I am Barbara-Fette, Bobba's girlfriend")
We have a friend who is a star wars nut. I mean, really really into it. Collects the action figures and all that. After the Phantom Menance came out, I made some sort of disparaging comment about it (no way?!) and he replied, "people who don't like Episode One aren't real fans. Real fans liked it". I then read pretty much the same feelings on a Star Wars message board the other day (really, I was looking for which theatres were doing the digital projection). "If you don't love Lucas and all he does, well, then you aren't a real fan and you can't be in our club", was basically the theme to anyone who doubted the greatness of this new movie. Ugh. We are seeing the movie tonight, so expect some sort of review and/or rant Monday.
Seen on a music message board "there are about 2 people in my school that like this band... and they're not the popular kids, either... So I like this music for just that reason. "
