Birthday De La Mateo Jay MattyJ and I had just had breakfast at the always lovely Clinton Street Bakery, where they make a mean biscuit. Probably one of the meanest biscuits in a city that hasn't really figured out how to make a biscuit. Appropriate, I suppose. Two southern-expats in the big city munching on southern style biscuits. I think that is a good start to a birthday day. I think.
More reasons to sit on my ass Our neighborhood has a new video store. Matt and I stopped by after breakfast. This makes me very happy. We have a blockbuster and a locally owned one already, and both have lots to be desired. The blockbuster is a train wreck. There will be mountains of tapes in the corner from where someone forgot to put them back. Literally, mountains. Waist high stacks of video tapes piled in the corners. The check-out line is always really long, too.
The locally owned one is nice. The people are nice enough and it's really cheap. They are slowly catering to the 'smart ass white kids' in the hood, but the majority of their stuff is still crap. And now that we bought one of them DeeVeeDee players, we are looking for those and their selection is small. Really small. And they always skip and crap. And there is no selection.
Now we have a new store that is mainly DVD only, with lots of cool titles to rent. Lots of great indie flicks and foreign crap, but without the attitude of some place like Kims where you are chided for your selections. "You're renting THIS?!"
New stuff coming soon Well, that is all I have to say. There is new stuff coming. And it will be here soon. The new stuff, that is.
New writers? Being that the robot is on a bigger server now, I think we can add a few more writers. If you want to recommend someone, let me know. I am all for stealing people off of the crummy blogger.com sites - those sites are always so slow. Do you like words? Bring it.
