Hoyt-Schermerhorn @ 8:46
Nutty train morning for some reason. All crowdy and packed and cranky.
I transferred at Hoyt-Schermerhorn to get on to the A train so I could zoom up the west side to work.
To get to my Manhattan bound train I had to walk up the stairs and cross over to get to the other side. That level above the tracks has a little newsstand with snacks and is also home to a NY Transit Police substation.

This part of the station is a bit dim and as I was walking to the other stairwell to go down to the other side, I almost missed a little ceremony.
About 30 officers were standing in formation in front of their station - maybe 3 or 4 deep.
Heads bowed and silent.

There was a single officer standing off to the side holding a flag.

Pretty powerful stuff.
Most of us slowed down and paused for a moment.
Then we heard the train arriving and scurried down the stairs leaving them silently standing there.
