03.20.05 I have been thinking about this day since Sterling called me in January to say she was coming in to celebrate my thirtieth. I hadn't made any plans or thought too much about it. Part of me had wanted to do something extravagant like a last minute trip to Paris, New York or a destination unknown. We settled on a party.
Last night we partied. It was a houswarming slash birthday party and it went on until we kicked people out at 4:00 a.m. Fun. Today was dim sum hangover cure with the gang.
Some days I feel like I lead a charmed life. I am lucky to have so many wonderful people and meaningful relationships in my life. Turning thirty does feel significant. When I look back at a the last ten years of my life, I feel like I have figured out a lot. I have a better understanding of myself and of what really matters to me. That counts for a lot.
There are still areas that need improvement: More self-discipline. Less divulging of inner monologue. More living in the moment. Less self-doubt. The usual.
Right, time to cap the night with some pizza and TV.
