Klutch.xls: This is what Blogocracy Looks Like

From the Boston Globe:

"Law enforcement officials reported that the only arrest yesterday related to the protests was a 50-year-old woman caught allegedly trying to set fire to an empty cereal box with a cigarette lighter."

Yes, folks, the DNC is in town and we are fucking pissed at our cereal.

And our men and women in Law enforcement apparently are geniuses as well (also from the Globe):

"A massive search of the area began shortly after midnight when a National Guardsman reported that he thought he saw parachutes descending in the vicinity of the Thomas P. O'Neill Federal Building on Causeway Street, which is adjacent to the FleetCenter."
"There is nothing on the roof," said Boston police officer Nadine Taylor-Miller.

This protester was not arrested though handcuffed and detained. Thank god they are detaining the right people for the right reasons (from Boston Indymedia):

The attorney, John Pavlos, then gave a quick press conference. Pavlos said, "The Secret Service was very clear that they observed him looking around." That appears to be the extent of the Secret Service's concern with him, that he was "looking around." That, and, presumably, that he looked Muslim.

I finally fixed my bike yesterday morning knowing that I would want to be able to ride to work and tool around the various convention sites during the week. I rode into Boston and saw a modest demonstrations set up by Boston A.N.S.W.E.R. They are always reconizable by their lack of a coherent message and their strong policing of their own people. Turns out later in the day they beat up an anti-abortion activist. Good work fighting for those first amendment rights.

This is the reason I decided not to become to politically active around this convention.

Boston is now a police state. I'll get some pictures up later today or tomorrow. I was at the inauguration of G.W.B. and there were less police in DC then than there are now in bean-town. Horses, motorcycles, cars, armored vehicles. There was even a fleet of Boston Public School short busses . . . I'm not sure if they were transporting law enforcement or wating to round up protesters. The staties in body armor really freak me out, but the SS (secret service) are all matrix like and that's even worse.

On a related note, John Kerry threw out the first pitch at the Yankee / Red Rox game last night. He short armed it right off the front of the plate. Typical.
