Pony: psychics and canadiana
5.29.2001

The Cabot Trail. This should be a great bike trip for August, right? Cape Breton. mmmm. As for Canadian books based in the Maritime Provinces, I have only read Anne Marie MacDonald`s
Fall on Your Knees
, The Shipping News and that Can Lit histo-drama about the Halifax explosion.
not exactly an extensive anthology/mythology to draw from, but I have a sudden craving to see the East Coast. On two wheels. And I miss my bike, Voodoo Polly. Her rusting spokes and empty basket reproach me daily as I hop down the porch stairs.

Last night my mother went to this famous psychic. Of course, I asked her what the fortuneteller said about me and she answered: "out of all three daughters, you are the best."
I shit you not. The best at what? The best-dressed? I wanted to know. "Just that you will have the best life." Suddenly I am curious. The best does not mean the longest. best. Best. I am never using the word best again. I hate that word.
