20 Best of the 20 of 20.
First of all, Happy Fiscal New Year everyone. Where will you be when the ball drops tonight on the close of FY05? Will you be snuggling up with an auditor tonight? Will you be wandering the streets, kissing every accountant you see roaming the alleys and boulevards of the city, ties finally loosened and a couple of Zimas in their system? Or will you spend with a loved one curled up in front of a nice spreadsheet, in quiet contemplation of another fiscal year gone by and so many fiscal resolutions broken over the last 12 months? Wherever you wind up, raise a Zima for me.
As for me, I will be spending my Fiscal New Year trying to max out on cognitive dissonance. Rather than spend it with accountants, I'll be celebrating it along with a Wiccan friend, at a party with her coven. As far as I know (and I've watched lots of movies concerning witches and pagans and warlocks, so I think I'm an expert on this, if "Wicker Man" is to be trusted), this means I will most likely be spending my evening in the midst of a wild orgy, or being sacrificed to some earth goddess. So if you don't hear from me ever again, it probably means I've been offered up as a gift to Hecube, and you should pour out some whiskey in my name every full moon. I know goddesses of the night normally prefer fresh virgins, but I assume New York chapters make due with what they can get in this sinful city. Besides, all the people who came out for Billy Graham last weekend have gone home, so they'll probably make due with the next best thing. Wish me luck!
