Did you know there were a total of five "Planet Of The Apes" movies...count em five! In the fourth one, I believe entitled "Conquest of" they explain that this virus wiped out all the dogs and cats off the face of the earth. Being selfish humans we then proceeded to attempt to domesticate apes (actually extras in ape suits) but then we receive our comeuppance as there is a revolt which leads to "Battle for The Planet of the Apes." I would like to think if things really went down like this that we would try domesticate squirrels or something....not that I'd want one for a pet. Have you ever looked a squirrel in the eyes?
