I Fought In A War I left this out of yesterday's discussion on the twee carnage surrounding the threat of a terrorist attack on a Belle and Sebastian concert because I felt it would have diminished the seriousness of this topic, but we must discuss this further.
Stuart of Belle and Sebastian was truly horrible at stage banter (only the lead singer of The Prayers and Tears of Arthur Digby Sellars has been worse, and only Cromulent and Cryfok can back me up on that).
Trust me, he was bad. But amongst the lame jokes Stuart told on Indpendence Day, one comment deserves further discussion: an incitement to revolution. Stuart called for the 500 twee-pop kids to rise up. "I don't know how many cops there are in New York City, but there can't be more than 8,000, and we should be able to take them."
And I don't see why not. There's no reason this collection of Pastel Goth kids shouldn't rise up and take over this town, forming a Fey Army larger than anything seen in New York City since Stonewall. This rag-tag force can abandon their "Meat is Murder" and "Smiths" uniform for camo and khaki, rallying the city to its popular cause until we can challenge the NYPD, a force larger and better armed than the Canadian Army.
It starts here! It starts now! Stop sketching unicorns into your notebooks and accept your destiny! Join the Fey Army, the last best hope for freedom!
