Busy Bee Binging

I can't believe we're almost two weeks into April. I've been a busy bee making honey. Even though my brain is overloaded and I had little time for random reflection, the honey is sweet. I'm also growing thyme. Honey and thyme. I can cook up a lot with honey and thyme.

A few months back, I also got on Netflix. I'm old enough to remember when Netflix just was a DVD rental service. I'd create a list online and get little red envelopes with DVDs in the mail. This time, it's streaming and Netflix produced content.

Yes, I know I'm late to the streaming party. I'm always late to the latest technological thing. I don't worry about it and view it as a quirk. By the way, I still own a Blackberry (with the little buttons) even though I don't use it. I also still blog.

With the Netflix streaming, I don't have to wait for the next DVD of a series. It's all right there in front of me, so I can watch one episode after another after another. Yes, I know this is binge watching.

I will go off on a tangent in this paragraph and remind you, gentle reader, that I have a background in the craft of dramatic writing. I know how to construct a narrative to keep the viewer engaged. I know some of the tricks writers use to keep us wanting more. What will happen next? Dum! Dum! Dum! Find out in the next episode.

So no, I would never binge watch. Not me. No way.

And then I found a seven hour mini-series with likeable but quirky characters. Okay yes, I watched the whole thing in one sitting. It had a satisfying ending. But when I got up from my screen, my joints felt stiff and I wasn't sure which reality I was in. I wanted to take a long walk. I needed to look at real sky and real trees. And think my thoughts.

There seem to be more bees these days. Time to make the honey.
