speedy potato and celery soup
taut tumA taut t-shirt rating for this soup, although T-shirts are already taut in Soup Towers. What with Baby Soup on the way, I've been away form the big pan a bit. We also caught a mystery baby virus off our friend Mr Baby Luke. We feel sick. Today's Woman's Hour got me in the Soup Kitchen once again though.

Available ingredients were scarce, but from bendy celery and sprouting old potatoes this delicious and speedy treat in bowl can be made.

You need:

  • Four or five sprouting old potatoes (fresh will do), peeled and sliced;
  • Four or five sticks of celery;
  • 2 teaspoons of bouillon powder;
  • Dash of Tabasco;
  • Knob of butter;
  • Seasoning (a lot).

    In the big pan:
    Cover the veg with water and simmer until tender. Blend and add the flavouring and butter. I'm a bit off flavour at the moment, so maybe you'll want garlic or other exotic treats in your soup. We had this with potato cakes and cheese.

    We enjoyed this soup whilst feeling ill and discussing surnames. It would go better with TV.
