cauliflower and potato soup
trim tumMidway through the pregnancy caper, I am beginning to love the flavour again.
This is a trim-tum rated soup, and serves four soupsters.

You need:
  • Three large potatoes peeled and sliced fairly thinly;
  • A medium-sized cauliflower, roughly chopped;
  • Four cloves of garlic;
  • A bit of butter or oil;
  • Two teaspoons of ground coriander;
  • Two teaspoons of ground cumin;
  • Two teaspoons of bouillon powder;
  • Pinch of chilli powder or something;
  • Maybe some tamari.

    In the big pan:
    Boil up the potatoes and cauliflower in a couple of pints of water until the potato is cooked. Blend this lot and put aside.

    Briefly fry the spices in about half an ounce of butter, then add the liquidised soup and stir quickly. Crush in the garlic, sprinkle on the bouillon powder and season. Check that it's spicy enough. You might want to have some tamari or soy with this.

    I've eaten quite a lot of this whilst checking out what pregnancy holds for me each day on the ivillage pregnancy calendar.

    According to the calendar, each day of the pregnancy seems to be mostly about buying stuff. Today I am supposed to be buying 'What to expect when you're expecting'. I might not bother. Have you seen this?. My giddy aunt.
